Meaty and crispy, just really excellent chicken. They have ribs, shrimp and fish but seriously, just go for the specialty of the house, the chicken. This is broasted chicken at its finest with good flavor. Deliciously juicy and crunchy without all the grease of frying. Sides run decent to good but the star of the show is hot, perfectly seared golden chicken. We did half and half, half fries and half broasted potatoes. We were fairly evenly divided on which was the superior option. I will vote for the broasted potatoes myself. The cole slaw was loved by my dad and mom and I thought it was nice-ish enough I guess...but ummm pass me more chicken instead please. You cannot go wrong with a bucket of this stuff. Not too spendy at all, you can get a 12 piece bucket with the works for under 20 bucks. Not bad for four people. More hungry? A 16 piece will set you back around 24 smackeroos to go. I will tell you eating in seems a very appealing option after travelling home smelling the deliciousness. I wanted to pull the car over and dive in. Your belly will thank you even if your arteries are clogged after.

I used to live closer to Mr.Chicken when I was a kid. Ever since than it is my favorite place to get take out. Though I don't live extremely far it's far enough to where I don't have it more than Once a year or so. The Broasted/ Fried Chicken doesn't get any better than this. The only place to get Fried Chicken near me are not nearly as satisfying as Mr. Chicken. Of coarse KFC is disgusting and Lee's is just okay. Mr. Chicken is Superior too any Fried Chicken I have ever had. The Fried Chicken is definitely the star of the show and you will want more. I am very picky about Cole Slaw and I always think of Mr. Chicken's Cole Slaw being one of the best. We have always gotten an order of Half Broasted Potatoes and Half fries. The fries are a treat for sure. There are none like the fries you can get at Mr. Chicken. The Broasted Potatoes are pretty yummy as well. You will love your meal, the only thing not liking Mr. Chicken would be your arteries. This place is great and I would say it is the best Fried Chicken I have ever had.

I lived about a mile from Mr. Chicken for about 11 years and loved it every time I ate there. Great chicken, no doubt. But this ain't no hipster skinless healthy organic joint. This is old school, crispy, grease dripping, hot from the broaster (what the hell is a broaster anyway?), having the munchies eating, sitting in your stomach for hours, regretting it later chicken. But it tastes so damn good, it's addictive. And I started calling it dog crack, because my dogs would literally go crazy and start drolling and jumping and freaking out whenever I brought it home. I don't blame them. It really is that good. Not cheap by any means. It'll cost you about 8 -10 dollars for a dinner, but, like I said, it's good to the bone. The coating is super flavorful and the chicken is moist and tender. A dinner comes with a tiny coleslaw (nothing special) and big helping of broasted (what the hell is a broaster anyway?) potatoes. I always like the potatoes, but others have told me they don't really dig them. Just big ass fat wedges of fried potatoes. What's not to like? So as long as you appreciate a big meal of fried goodness, go for it. Fast the next day or whatever you have to do to get the fat out of your body, if that bothers you. It never bothered me, personally. Eat it. Mr Chicken. Small family owned business. Give them some love.

I am new to Yelp and am writing a review SOLELY to let everyone know how amazing Mr. Chicken is! Now I'm not too familiar with this location--I only went a handful of times as I live closer to (and the apparently unknown) location in Redford on Plymouth rd. between Beech Daly and Inkster...I think. Thats the one I grew up with but last I knew they were owned by the same family so you probably wont miss anything either way. Let me start this by saying I have never had the chicken. THATS RIGHT! A place called Mr. Chicken and I have never eaten it! This is about 3 things and 3 things only. RIBS. PERCH. RANCH!! oh, the ranch :) Their ribs were my first experience EVER with ANY ribs as a child. We ate there allllll the time and their rib dinners are now so engraved in my mind, it is what I judge all other rib dinners by. I now cannot eat ribs TO THIS DAY unless its with fries/wedges DIPPED IN RANCH and with a side of coleslaw---just like Mr. Chicken :) The ribs are great, love the sauce....sort of like Open Pit but not quite as spicy/tangy. They've always been great as far as I can remember, maybe not always perfect but I've never had a sincere complaint. Tender and delicious. Ive never had them with fries but if you get the wedges you HAVE to order them extra crispy...I request them 'burnt'. They NEVER come out burnt but between the Styrofoam container and the brown paper envelope thingy, you have to get them overdone just so they're still somewhat crispy by the time you make it home. ORDER THE RANCH!!!! The ranch is house made with buttermilk and freaking delicious. I always order at least two sides of it because i scoop it up with a potato wedge like a biscuit in gravy lol The hot bbq tangyness with the ranch herb goodness mixed with cool, sweet coleslaw----pure yum goodness in and around my mouth, dude. The perch is also the shit. Crispy fried to perfection, tender and yum on the inside. I order it with the fries and of course coleslaw---also my first ever experience with fish and chips! I never knew what kind of fish it was as a kid and as an adult, everyone else's 'fish and chips' is usually Cod. So I went to MC and ordered the Cod thinking I'd get what I remembered and was disappointed. Dont bother. Love MC but the one time I got Cod it was just soggy little nuggets...a mess. The perch dipped in their little packets of Tater Sauce was so delicious, I even dipped my fries in it just so the delicious taste could last in my mouth a little longer before the next bite lol There really isnt much more to say....just pure delicious! So in conclusion-----order the ribs. Good price, good food. ORDER THE FREAKING RANCH AND DIP YOUR POTATOES IN IT!! Potatoes: Wedges, order them super crispy or they'll be soggy by the time youre home. Order the perch and get fries and lots of tarter sauce. I guess you could try the chicken too, but let me tell you....if a place named and famous after this infamous chicken, can also make a lifetime fan just on ribs and perch....you wont lose either way!

The chicken gets 4 stars. The ribs only 2 stars. Worth going for the price and the chicken, but I would stay away from the ribs. The fried pickles aren't bad either, and the fries and cole slaw are pretty good. Not bad every once in a while, but not a regular place we go to.

I love this place for a few reasons one being that it's a few minutes away and the chicken is always HOT, which is a big deal for me when fried chicken is involved. Give them a try and make sure if you eat in that u try their Ranch dressing.

In accordance with my meatatarian weekend, I went driving around following my nose. The added snow didn't help and thus gave me more reason to locate some meat. Ribs are just what the doctor ordered. I got myself a slab dinner for one with some fries and coleslaw. All for a little less than 15 bucks. There was a roll in there but I threw it out the window. The ribs were decent. The main problem I had with it was the super high fat content. Some sections were lacking meat and it was just biting into pork fat. This is not cool if you're expecting to be biting into meat. The sauce was a solid C+. It was nowhere near "brush your teeth with bbq sauce" good. The fries were meh and the coleslaw was good. It was a decent attempt. This place seems to specialize in broasted chicken, so I might give that a shot another time. The staff was pretty quick. Although, I was slightly nervous when they mentioned making a KFC run. My fears were alleviated when I found out they just wanted some biscuits. I just might give this place another shot in the near future.

The chicken is excellent! The best broasted chicken I've ever tried. It's always flavorful and juicy. Theirs is the only cole slaw I will even eat more than just a little taste of. I could even say I love their cole slaw. Two tips: order a side of Ranch dressing. It is the best Ranch around. I dip my fries and chicken in it, or make a lil chicken sandwich with Ranch on the bread they give when you dine in. And if you're getting your food to-go, poke holes in your styrofoam box of fries to let the steam out. Terri was our server last time in and she was top-notch, super friendly, and just the right amount of attentive. Thank you for a wonderful lunch experience!

Great food, and ridiculously friendly people. Our wait for the food wasn't long at all, but the management seemed to think so, so they have us an extra order of shrimp and knocked 5 dollars off the bill. You will get enough food to fill you up, and to take home in boxes all for a really good price.

Ate in here the other day with a friend of mine and it was an alright experience. I'm not downgrading the stars because the buckets of chicken are so good but I'd give this particular experience about 3 stars. The staff is lovely and super friendly, and if you get the chicken I'm sure you'll be plenty happy but this time around I decided to go with the chicken sandwich which came with a pretty sad iceberg salad (although I will say the ranch was QUITE tasty). The chicken sandwich itself was pretty plain. Just a fried chicken patty on a bun with a packet of mayo and some lettuce and tomato. The lettuce, again, was that standard iceberg and the tomato was a winter tomato--you know the kind, it's mushy and not quite ripe. I'm picky about tomatoes because my mom grows such amazing ones in her backyard in the summertime so most tomatoes don't hold a candle, especially the winter ones (they could be grown by magical holiday elves and I'd still probably be snooty about it). The chicken was actually quite good but it just made me wonder why I didn't just order the chicken meal since that's what's what I love. Save myself some calories on the bun, you know? (hey, it's not much when you're eating fried chicken but at least it's something!) The french fries were pretty good and I found myself dipping them in the leftover salad ranch. Admittedly not my healthiest hour but there you have it. The prices, as always, were pretty darn cheap and made treating my friend to lunch not a terrible bank breaking experience. I'm still definitely planning on eating here again and again but this time I'll stick to the classic fried chicken!

Great chicken. How on earth are there this many reviews and no one is saying how bad the fries are? If you have to slip them up with ranch that does not mean it is a good fry! Get anything else, it's great. Go to mcd's also. Whatever, but I cannot understand how a place can have consistently inedible fries for years and the populous is silent about it....

Bunch of us at work had Mr. Chicken today at work. Considering I'm still in the after-glow of my Faym-Us Chicken experience ( yelp.com/biz/faym-us-chi… ), I enjoyed the chicken but did not achieve food-gasm. The chicken was a tad soggy by the time it got back to the office, but the crust was still crisp-enough and flavorful. The only downside to the chicken was the outer 1/4" of chicken was a little leathery. The potato wedges were WAY overdone and WAY soggy; I only ate one. The slaw was minced, though flavorful. All in all I was satisfied, I'd go back.

This chicken is awesome! The waitresses are super nice. They make sure to always refill your drinks (without having to ask -- most of time). The ribs and shrimp are not the greatest but the sign says "Mr. Chicken". Do yourself and your family a favor by taking them to Mr. Chcken to eat.

My husband and I just came back from Mr Chicken. A place that we both remember being the best broasted chicken anywhere. My husband worked right around the corner and take out was a regular weekly treat for him and his coworkers. Since he has retired it's a little far out of our way, but he thought today he would treat me after I got off work. Wow, what a difference from two years ago, the food was cold and the wings were the size of a fifty cent piece. What happened to the hot juicey chicken that melted your styrofoam before you even made it home. When we asked the waitress she replyed that it all depends on what they send us. Sorry, but as a business person myself if Sherwood or whoever you get your product from ever sent me this kind of product it would be rejected at the back door. I truly understand how hard it is to run an independent business, but you just can't be inconsistent or you fail. Good luck to you and I hope you'll take my advice. May I also add in no way am I replying that Sherwood has anything to do with your product that you sell I am just familiar with many meat vendors.

With impending doom approaching (the over exaggerated snowpacalypse '11) I decided to swing in for some take out on the way back home. I still do not understand what 'broasting' is but the product was good. I'm about 15 minutes away from this place but unfortunately between the Styrofoam container & the cellophane bag the food got a bit steamy and not so crispy :( Beyond this it was some damn fine chicken, will update once I dine in...

There is no doubt about this chicken, it is excellent! I can't say I am crazy about the rest of the menu, but when I have a last minute need to feed 50 to 100 people for one of my parties this is where I run to for the chicken. And once the mad dash and grab is done, all you can hear is happy eating noises all over the place. Get extra, cause you are going to want left over chicken.

Came here with my husband for the first time last Friday. During Lent we try to find a new place for Fish & Chips each Friday. This week I picked Mr. Chicken. We were meeting my sister and her fiance, so I wanted to find somewhere closer to them. I looked up F&C on Yelp search, and Mr. Chicken was one of the places that popped up. Out of all the places listed - and all the reviews I read - this seemed like the best bet. I also thought my nieces and nephew were coming, so I had to steer away from bars. They didn't end up coming, so I could've easily picked a bar. Oh well...next time for sure! My sister said her work orders Mr. Chicken quite a bit, their chicken is delicious, but she had never been here either. I can tell you when we walked in the place it smelled heavenly! I really wanted to take part in some chicken action, but I restrained myself and ordered fish. I was actually looking forward to the fish though so it wasn't too big of an upset. We ordered the Fried Pickle Spears as an appetizer, and they were spectacular! They're comparable to other places I've tried, but they weren't so piping hot you couldn't eat them! They were served with a side dish of Ranch (which was pretty fantastic) and a few packets of cocktail sauce. Different, but maybe it would taste alright? I don't know...I stuck with good ol ranch! So I learned that the "dinner" choice comes with 3 pieces of fish, and the "snack" comes with 2 pieces of fish. You get a choice of 2 sides with both the dinner and the snack. The soup was Campbell's Clam Chowder. The salad was an Iceberg salad. I believe applesauce and cottage cheese were also side options, which neither appealed to me. So I went with the potato (fries) for 1 side, and coleslaw for my 2nd side which I ended up giving to my husband since I can't eat cabbage. We all ordered the fried cod (dinner) with fries, but my sister ordered the wedges. I tried one of her potato wedges and it was pretty awesome. Could've used a little more salt, but I liked them alot. I thought they were better than the fries, which were pretty standard - not the crispy kind. The fish was pretty good, and that was PIPING HOT! You definitely had to wait a little bit before taking a bite. I'm pretty sure all 4 of us said we burned our mouth/tongue on the fish. Not bad, just good to know if you've never been here. The cod fillets weren't the beer battered crispy kind. The batter was very thin - almost like a skin - and fell of the fish easily. It wasn't bad and it definitely tasted good, but I prefer the crunchy, beer battered fish fillets. Our waitress was great. She kept our drinks full, our tables cleared, and helped us with any questions we had regarding the menu. She was pretty cool. Service was quick & good. Fish & fries were average. I'm sure if I came back and had their chicken my rating would bump up a star for sure.

Good Broasted Chicken Pieces are a bit small but delicous . Very casual restaurant daily specials I believe mon and thurs they have chicken dinner specials. Broasted Potatos are good and if you get onion rings as a side you get a lot. Cole slaw is Best I have had. This is a place that "Our Older generation goes". dining room is simple Ribs are Baby backs and I highly recommend the chicken and rib combo. Dine in if you decide to try them because nothing beats chicken right out of the broaster. Even the wing dings are Great, Can't say anything negative about this place. Again nothing special about the Dining room . They do more carry out than dine in I think but it's still nice to dine in enjoy the freshly Broasted Chicken and Make sure to Take Care of your Wait Staff :-). Have kid's meals (menu) also

I can't believe I've never ate here before. It's a couple mins away from my house- always passing by and never giving it a chance! As soon as u walk in, u can smell the chicken. And after that you just can't wait to eat it. I had gone w/ 2 other ppl & we ordered the 8 Pc bucket. (all white * for us) Let me just say our chicken came out golden brown .. And it was delicious. Absolutely delicious. I hate coleslaw but the coleslaw made here was actually pretty good.. Didn't taste the bread but my sis enjoyed it. We also ordered a mix of broasted (thicker cut Potato) & reg. French fries. Didn't care much for the broasted- had an odd taste to me. But boy oh boy the fries were to die for! The atmosphere of this place reminded me of an old fashioned diner. Very clean- bathrooms could be a bit more updated.. But that's about it. Overall, my experience here was a success & I know I'll be back to Mr chicken !

Mr. Chicken, I love you so. From your broasted potatoes, to your french fries, to your home style ranch. Your chicken gives me cravings at night. If only I enjoyed your slaw. My husband adores it but I think it tastes soapy. To each their own. If you want quick, friendly, service, and a big ol' bucket of broasted chicken, this is the place for you. I'm really glad you are around, my favorite comfort food.

As first timers to Mr. Chicken, having heard the raves from numerous people, we wanted to try a little of everything. I'm sure people walking by our table, groaning with enough food for a hungry family of four, thought we were expecting company. Nope just us, but thanks. Here's how it ranked: Chicken Breast (3 pieces in the dinner, with 2 sides for $12) - 4 stars Chicken Thighs (2 come with the Chicken and Cod dinner, with 2 sides for $9) - 3 Coleslaw (my side - Ken didn't love it) - 3 stars Cod - 2.5 stars Broasted Potatoes (my side - neither one of us really loved it) - 2.5 stars Onion Rings (Ken's side, along with cottage cheese, which will go unranked) - 2 stars 4 Bone Snack (wow, these were not good) - 1 star So... we're still looking for the place with the best broasted chicken. Shabby, but painfully clean interior. Decent-sized parking lot.

If you feel like visiting a diner from yesteryears, Mr. Chicken is the place to be. I felt as if I stepped back into the southern 1960s, with the home-y/grandma's dining room feel... and I loved that. Our "drinks" hostess was an absolute doll, she was so nice and really made us feel welcomed. Our food hostess was super sweet too, and other staff members passed by and said hello to our baby or the kids. Lemme tell you, this was the best customer service experience I have ever come across. The food might not be 4 star gourmet, but the service was beyond 4 stars at this little restaurant. As for the food, it went right along with that country old fashioned feel. I seriously think my grandma had same dishes they serve with! We had the appetizer that includes all the fried stuff , which included zucchini and cauliflower. Nothing special but still good. I order clam chowder and yes, it tasted like it came out of a can but that's okay because I like canned clam chowder! The chicken tenders were standard and yummy, the fried cod was moist and really good (and I wish dinner came with more of it!) and ooooooh the chicken. I mean, I know the place is called Mr. Chicken for a reason, but I didn't expect the chicken to be that good. I really don't like chicken on the bone to be honest but the chicken breast was sooooooo good! It was super moist and flavorful throughout, not just the skin, which rocked BTW. Bottom line: The chicken rules, the rest is good in a kitschy sort of way, and the staff are AWESOME. I would go back just for the atmosphere and great hostesses! If you are going down Telegraph and feeling hungry, stop by and get some chicken!

Great place to eat on way home from airport. I had chicken and ribs. My wife had chicken breast. Ribs were good, not fabulous. Sauce was not good. I would skip them next time and concentrate on the chicken. Cole slaw was good. I prefer larger pieces and creamier dressing, but this is more traditional. Wedge fries good, as were onion rings. Chicken was close to excellent. Nice crisp breading. Desserts uninspiring - skipped it. Why nothing homemade? And unfortunately, no liquor license. I like beer with fried chicken. Best part was Teri, our waitress. She has been there 18 years! Great service!

Here chicken...chicken... Come out and play!!! (Weird I know) Ok for people saying the ranch is oh so good - true but it isn't an extra 84 cents good for a small size container. (No thank you next time) I think this place is very reasonable especially their side of onion rings - the small to me looks like a large and that's all you would need unless you are sharing which I usually don't do. Yes i'm greedy so sue me!!! I've eaten at meaning chicken spots and unfortunately there's usually no take of seasoning added which I HATE - ugh but this place here has me sold. Its nothing you need to do but eat them; as of right now i've been getting a carry-out which only takes about 10mins and the food isn't sitting under a light or anything. You can see the guys in the back cooking away. Thanks for giving good service. **Also try there apple-dutch pie (Yummy)**

I LOVE Mr. Chicken! The chicken is incredible, cole slaw great, wonderful onion rings. I'm not a huge fan of the potato wedges, they're a bit bland but they're a side you can choose. When it comes down to it, I love the chicken here. The staff is friendly, if you order to go, it's quick. I would eat here almost everyday if a roasted chicken was super healthy food! Great chicken!

Best Chicken, Best Price. Great Coleslaw. Really nothing else to say. Mr. Chicken was the building blocks of my daughter.

Very good chicken. Love the wings! Awesome service and carry out. Just wish they had a good mac and Cheese :D

Love the chicken here! The coleslaw is ultimate! I would eat here more often if fewer calories were involved. The salad is fresh and the potatoes are great!!!

Perfect for family get togethers. Chicken is always juicy and delicious. Friendly staff too
